Hotels in Wicker Park

"The Freehand is a funky little hotel located near Michigan Ave and the waterfront in Chicago. The decor is cool, with a dark reddish vibe. There is a comfortable lounge, a nice bar, and a cafe. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. There is a gym though I didn’t see it. And they held onto our suitcases for us after we checked out while we did a day full of activities before going to the airport. Cons - the room and bathroom were small and very tight. Our room door was difficult to open and close. The cafe was not serving breakfast the one day I was there without explanation. The bar had a very small wine selection - no Chardonnay. The front desk was usually manned by only one person and they had to answer the phone while we were trying to check in and out. It was fine for our purposes, and not too expensive, but even though I gave it 4 stars I probably would not stay there again. I need a little more room and doors that close safely."

"What a fantastic hotel. Walking distance to so much of downtown. The staff were polite and helpful, the room was great! My wife says “this is where we are staying when we come to Chicago from now on.”"

"The location is great, but the cleaning staff could put more focus on the rooms. I had to move rooms because the first one was unfinished (toilet seat up, not wiped, hairs, pee ring around base of toilet) and the room they moved me to had more hair and scum in the toilet seat. I just went down and got Clorox wipes from the front desk. There were some ants on the desk but that was it. "

"The room was clean but the decor made the room dark. We had to use all the lights to get the room bright. Plenty of plug outlets to use in the room"
