"*Great Location, But a Bit of a Mixed Experience Overall* We booked this place through Expedia when it was still listed as a 3-star stay. Right before the trip, though, we noticed it had dropped to 1 star, which definitely made us a bit uneasy going in. We also had a frustrating experience trying to contact the owners beforehand as we needed something for a visa application. Someone initially said they’d help, but after a few weeks of waiting, nothing came of it. Arrival & Check-in: We arrived late morning, thinking we’d at least be able to drop our bags, especially since it was absolutely boiling that day. But we later realised, buried in the small print, that reception doesn’t even open until 3pm. So we couldn’t check in, couldn’t leave luggage, and couldn’t get hold of anyone, which meant hanging around in the heat from about 12pm to 3pm. Not a great start. When we came back at 3, we still had to wait about 15 minutes in what felt like a slightly makeshift reception area inside a residential building. The staff member who eventually showed up wasn’t particularly welcoming, didn’t apologise, and spoke very little English, which made things a bit awkward straight away. We were also asked to pay a €50 city tax on arrival, which we had assumed had already been included. The Room: The biggest disappointment was the size. It just didn’t match the photos at all. We were expecting something closer to a suite, but what we got was a very small double room with a tiny bathroom"

"Great location, the staff is super friendly and helpful and there is a street full of nice restaurants just one street down. The only thing to look out for is if you are sensitive to noise but want to sleep with the window open is to book a room with the courtyard view. The street is very loud at night."

"Good size room and bathroom. Comfortable beds and great Air Conditioning. Rooftop is beautiful with exceptional food and wine. Breakfast was complete with good selections. All the staff is attentive and genuinely caring. From the moment we checked in, the stay was a pleasure."

"The location is very central-close to the Vatican and St. Peter’s square. That’s about the only positive thing I can say about it. The room I stayed in was slightly bigger than a closet. I’m not even sure if the blanket was changed? It had an unpleasant odour, although the concierge downstairs was kind enough to give me a new one. Stay here if you can’t find anything else and you value a prime location, but if you’re willing to walk or take surface level transport, there are plenty of better value and cleaner hotels elsewhere. "
