"You can leave your luggages in the lounge before check-in and after checkout. We stayed in a Classic Double Room, which was the most affordable one. The listing should be clear on NOT-en-suite in this room as the pictures looking like en-suite. The entire room was also different from the pictures. It was a bit tight and small but fair enough for the price. The front door keypad was not user-friendly, which made the checkin experience worse. However, the staff was kind on the phone. Overall I didn’t feel “excellent” as expected from the reviews but if you look for affordable and clean rooms, I’d recommend here."

"Very conveniently located for the railway, Tesco and the town centre. Warm, friendly welcome. Nice complimentary refreshments in the room. Tastefully decorated room. There are quite a lot of stairs to reach the upper floors, and there is no lift."

"Excellent staff, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and efficient-particularly the reception staff. We were very fortunate to be given an upgrade-very exciting! This meant a canal view room which was lovely, much quieter than the front of the building. The hotel appears to be undergoing a programme of refurbishment and the dining room is much improved. Unfortunately the same could not be said of the breakfast. It was disappointing that there was only sliced bread available. The slices of cheese were hard and curled and looked most unappetising. The hotel is set in lovely surroundings and the walk along the canal into Skipton is a pretty one, where we saw jumping lambs, ducks, geese, swans and an otter. We always enjoy our stays here."

"Amazing location and an our room was 109% to our satisfaction. The Lister Arms I believe also own the Buck Inn 100 yards away so we checked out both menus as they cater for different tastes and we chose the Buck inn to eat at which was perfect for us and they also had Sky Sports on which was a bonus. Definitely will return to the Lister Arms next year as the area is truly an amazing place and the value for money for bed and a fantastic breakfast is certainly worth every penny"

"A beautiful stay in a beautiful location. The spa treatment I had was the best I've ever had! My only niggles were the 2 hour wait for breakfast without any explanation or apology and the Cocktail lounge was more like a waiting room. Maybe move the newspapers to the smaller lounges as 'reading rooms'?"

"The room was very clean and tidy, food was excellent and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. I would recommend Herriots for anyone stating in Skipton - and Skipton itself for a short break. For anyone taking a single room, try for no 20. I had coffee with the balcony doors open and overlooking the canal. Just great..."

"Excellent stay. Lovely warm welcome. Everywhere clean and and well equipped. The breakfast is cooked to order. So tasty, excellent choice and very filling. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Shops and restaurants, coffee shops and gift shops 2 minutes walk away. Free parking at the hotel."

"Breakfast was good although be prepared to wait a while. The evening meal was disappointing. We ate at the hotel on two evening occasions and on the first night were unable to eat the burgers which were overcooked and tasted awful. Whilst we were given a plate of complimentary mini desserts (which I think were left over from afternoon tea) we did still have to pay for the two bad meals which were not eaten."
