"Overall, the experience was mixed but ultimately okay.
Check-in started off a bit disappointing. I asked if our rooms were quiet and I was told yes, because they were not near elevators. However, my room right next to one. It wasn't too noisy, but it was disappointing that we were so close to it. When I arrived, there were also no towels in the bathroom, and I couldn’t reach anyone by phone at the front desk. So i went down and they sent housekeeping to eventually bring them.
The shower was another issue initially. It was rusted, appeared to have mildew, and had almost no water pressure. I shared this feedback through Expedia after check-in.
To the hotel’s credit, they ended up being responsive. Later the next evening, the front desk followed up, and while they may have overcorrected (I ended up with about 20 towels in the room), they did address the concern. The next day, maintenance replaced the showerhead, and it worked better (good pressure and brand new)
The food across the resort was solid (around a 7.5/10), including both the buffet and specialty restaurants. Service was consistently good. Housekeeping and restaurant staff were attentive and professional.
Debbie at the concierge desk was fantastic in helping us with reservations, and Janay at the tour desk was helpful and friendly.
While the stay had a few hiccups at the beginning, they did make an effort to resolve everything."
"Great family vacation. Not enough chairs around pools. Unless you wanted to pay extra. Water park plenty of seating. Food unbelievable different ranges of price for families. "
"Overall, the resort was average. It was clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The beach was only about 150 yards of walkable beach that runs directly into a public beach with concrete docks so no long walks on the beach. The connected "partner" hotel, One Harbour, does not allow you to access their beach unless you are a guest at their hotel. The local shops/restaurants nearby and down Bay Street close around 5 so there is minimal to do outside of the resort. We tried to book a snorkel excursion through the resort, but it was cancelled twice. The resort does charge 25% (10% VAC and 15% gratuity) on everything you buy from them. The waterpark is very nice and kids do love it. "
"If you want to go on vacation with your partner and have privacy and a relaxing time, don’t come here. There are a lot of kids running all over the hotel, since groups of students between 14 and 18 years old come here on school trips."
"We’ve stayed in Nassau over 30 times and our first stay at British Colonial. Our check in experience was horrible with very poor customer service. Once we got to our room, we called for wine glasses to be sent up and they said they didn’t do that. We had to go to the bar. Other than that the rooms were great, the bar staff was excellent. Grounds are beautiful, beach and pools are great. Everything was very clean. Check out experience was quick and the different staff made all the difference. I believe it was just one bad apple, I wish I had gotten her name. We will stay here again and hopefully they’ll be more accommodating at the front desk."
