The Richardson Hotel is an impressive and memorable place to stay. The rooms and facilities are excellent, with a distinctive character that sets it apart. Be prepared for a bit of walking — the scale of the building adds to the experience, but it is expansive. One drawback was a strong “cheap soap” scent in the room, which detracted from an otherwise high-quality stay. The bar is well worth a visit - the bartender is excellent and adds to the overall experience. For a slightly offbeat and architecturally interesting stay, it is a place I would return to.

Free parking in the Old Montreal is unheard of so it’s a huge bonus, especially since it comes with in and out privileges. The hotel itself is average and seems unfinished with some construction going on and poor sound insulation. We had a one bedroom suite on 2nd floor right next to stairs and elevator and could hear people talking through the door and walking above us. We asked to be moved and were told that everything was booked even though hotel seemed empty on Sunday and Monday nights. The apartment itself is adequate but has no AC in the bedroom and no cooking supplies in the kitchen including paper towels or salt but comes with decent storage in the bedroom and ample shower with nice bath products. The bed was comfortable and so was the sofa in the living area. Internet was also very fast which was an asset for working remotely. Finally, there was no view from our suite 207 as it was facing a wall so it was relatively dark inside. Hope this helps other guests decide where to stay and what to consider.

Don was an incredible host- he made sure I was comfortable and content for my stay. The property is a testament to the preservation efforts taking place in Buffalo and I’m so grateful the Richardson Olmsted was saved from being demolished. Thank you for the wonderful stay- I will be back!

Stunning, huge, historic, building. Looks like something out of harry potter when you pull up. Beautifully maintained, lots of interesting rooms / galleries / exhibits which explain the history. Clean rooms, spacious, high ceilings, lots of windows. Would pick this over your average hotel chain any day

The place is gorgeous but where do I begin? The service is well below the price. My room was clean bus musty smelling and freezing (would have been nice if they turned the heat on in advance considering it is Buffalo in winter). Only one person took orders at the restaurant and also only one person serving breakfast (and she was annoyed that I came down in the last 1/2 hour). No bell person to help at all. The lobby elevators are a big run-around with no one to help with your bags. The front entrance was littered with trash and had a chicken fence around it. There were bight construction lights shining through the windows. The receiver of the phone in my room was not charged so I could not answer the front desk when they called at 11am to let me know I had to check-out even though I asked for a late check out when I checked-in late the night before --and I was one of only 10 guests in the hotel… Overall I felt like a nuisance to the staff. The museum in the basement was very interesting but it feels the place is struggling financially and they are not going out of their way to make the guests happy. It would be shame if the hotel went broke.

An absolutely amazing hotel. I loved the history and prominence of the building. Truly beautiful architecture and so sympathetically restored. Despite the history, I felt only good vibes. Everything screams "luxe". The staff are friendly and kind. The bed was super comfortable, I loved the pillows. My room was on the ground floor so it was a little dark. The restaurant and bar were lovely and the food so good. Some small criticisms were that the lamp and some of the plugs in the room didn't work. Also, breakfast was a strange experience. A weird lullaby was playing on repeat the whole time, and also no teaspoons were provided for my tea. The breakfast food was mediocre. The server seemed quite nervous. Other than that, I would absolutely recommend this hotel. The museum underneath was so interesting.
