Don't stay at the Brentwood Aberdeen City Centre near Union Street.I notified the hotel of my arrival time via their digital check-in system and arrived exactly when stated. Despite this, I was not shown to my room as their instructions promised—just told where to go. When I got there, the room had not been cleaned: dirty linens on the bed, a bag of rubbish on the floor, and an open drinks bottle left behind. Given that the hotel knew when I was arriving, this was unacceptable. The receptionist offered no apology and simply told me to wait 20 minutes. After waiting, I was told I’d be moved to a different room.The replacement room was also problematic. The blind was broken, and the maintenance man walked in without knocking before telling me it couldn’t be repaired until the following week. The chair was broken, with the seat detached from the frame. The heated towel rail only had two rails that worked. The bathroom mirror light didn’t work at all—I took photos and a video as proof. There was visible water damage and mould on the bathroom ceiling. The hallway carpets were stained, and the corridor outside my room was thick with cigarette smoke on both nights.On top of this, the digital keypad system failed. I was locked out of my room after the first night until someone at reception reset it. A neighbouring guest was less fortunate—he spent over an hour in the early hours trying to get into his room, triggering the keypad alarm
