staffs were nice and helpful. But the hotel itself was old, bedding was clean but too small couldn’t fit the king size bed. The room has very poor soundproofing, and noises from the hallway can be clearly heard. The facilities are outdated and do not justify the $400+ per night rate.

Cet hôtel est l’exemple typique d’un hôtel qui a été mais qui n’est plus du tout… sûrement magnifique en 1980, le laisser dans son jus pendant plus de 40 ans s’en a fait une ruine! Première chambre complètement insalubre, moisissure au plafond humidité hors du commun! Normal avec de la moquette qui a plus de 40 ans face a la mer. Tout est rouillé, decrepit. Une visite des services de l’hygiene s’imposent. La salle de bain et ultra vieillotte mais c’est étonnement l’endroit le moins humide de la chambres. La porte fenêtre ne ferme plus pas de soucis on l’ouvre au pied de biche et on met un espèce de crochet(idem dans les deux chambres)…. Deuxieme chambre le lendemain, le personnel n’est pas étonné de la remarque et des photos de moisissures d’ailleurs… elle est a peine mieux que la premiere elle pue un peu moins mais l’armoire reste inexploitable. Bref les deux étoiles sont pour le personnel qui est super sympa. L’emplacement est bien proche de tout et la vue mer très belle. Mais c’est un problème de propriétaire qui doit investir massivement pour tout rénover et fermer ces chambres en attendant le profit a vendre de l’insalubre est inacceptable. Sans parler de 25 dollars de resort fees et ils ne donnent même une bouteille d’eau à 50 cent par jour ces resorts fees c’est du vent! Bref établissement a fuire d’ici à un changement de propriétaire qui aura plus de respect pour les clients

Room was nice, but had no chair in the room, which was odd an inconvenient for doing work inside the room. Also no towel hook in the bathroom. They gym would benefit by having towels available to wipe off equipment after use.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable and clean with an amazing ocean view. However, the hotel itself is tired and in need of some major maintenance and repairs. There is a large amount of rust to the exterior of the building and balconies including the outdoor restaurant. One of the ponds in the lobby area is full of green slime. It must’ve been an absolute stunner in it’s day and deserves to be again.

Big Mahalo to the staff at Royal Kona Resort. We were greeted by a friendly team member at the front desk and pleasantly surprised that they upgraded our room and provided a bottle of champagne as it was our wedding anniversary. Rooms do feel a bit dated and the resort buildings are undergoing a much needed facelift. None of that detracted from our stay. Excellent location with plenty of restaurants, bars and shopping in very close walking distance. Big shoutout to Autumn at the Don’s Mai Tai bar in the hotel. She provided excellent service and was engaging in our many visits…and she makes a fantastic 1945 Mai Tai. Absolutely a great experience and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We checked in before a big storm, and stayed for a week, during the storm. The town was pretty much closed, flooded. The staff did a great job and worked really hard to keep everyone happy....which is a big endeavor. They gave out meals, coffees, let the pool area be open for even an hour if there was no rain, over 3 to 4 days or so. The wifi and tv and hot water went down because of the storm, they fixed it as soon as possible. They created work arounds and despite the inconveniences from the storm, we really felt tended to. I appreciate their support and next time in Kona, this place will be at the top of my list. They also let us check in early, and leave late...based on availability of course. The location is great and we LOVED the lagoon, where we had safe and calm access to the ocean. The restaurant was super convenient and the setting was really nice. I do recommend.
