I booked in late afternoon. Was welcomed by a smiling friendly receptionist, who informed me about the 5pm tea being served in the lobby. She also reminded me I was entitled to a free access in a local gym. ( The " Hukka" gym itself was grrreat). Clean room, comfortable bed. Fantastic breakfast with a beautiful lay out. Definitely a hotel with a character, where they make you feel welcome.

A pleasant oasis in central Finland

This place has been around in one form or another for many years, and the experience of the staff shines through. A welcoming afternoon tea and a sumtuous breakfast were just two of the standouts. The beds were excellent and the facilities all in good working order. Would happily stay there again if visiting the region.

I was in the main building just off the breakfast area / restaurant. The included breakfast buffett was good and hearty. I happened to be in Oulu when it was warm and the in room air conditioner that you needed to exhaust to the outside manually was one item that some may not care for, but I had not problem with. The place had charm and the staff was really awesome

"The" place to stay in Oulu

Had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The food was excellent—I had petite tender the first evening, which was perfectly served, and salmon with carrots the next evening. Superb! As I’m a Negroni lover, I felt like I had walked into a haven. The knowledge about the cocktail was overwhelming. From two different servers, I received a fascinating lecture on Negroni history, the Bourdain story, and of course, a totally perfect drink. They explained that while they can offer different gins, they are quite strict about the vermouth—it must be Antica Formula. They also had strong opinions on which gin should be used (I had Bombay). When I asked for a few drops of fresh orange juice, the response was: “Well, we can do that if you prefer, but it will upset the sugar balance of the drink.”.... Ioved this comment that brings up the knowledge about the drink!!!! Visiting a place where my favorite drink is served with such astonishing knowledge and passion just makes me feel good. Beyond that, the history of the place and the character of the building make you feel right at home. And the service? Absolutely excellent! If you want/need to stay at Radisson or Scandic, do that, but this is a place great better than the "fancy" ones.
