We booked this hotel through Hotels.com, largely because it advertised a pool.
Upon arrival, we found the pool completely empty—no water at all. When we asked, we were told this is “normal in winter” and that the information is listed on their own website, not on Hotels.com. The explanation we received was what she suggested that this is why guests should book directly. That may be their internal logic, but from a customer perspective, it’s simply misleading.
The overall tone of the stay can best be described as friendly, but lacking any real customer service, rather zero service, but polite and personable, but there was no sense of ownership or authority to resolve issues.
Dining was another disappointment. The food, with one exception, was flat and lacking flavor, yet priced at a premium level. After waiting about an hour for service, there was no acknowledgment of the delay—no apology, no gesture, nothing. Just a bill at the end.
Pricing overall felt out of proportion. Even basic items like beer were priced higher than what you’d expect at Oktoberfest—and this is a remote location, not other options.
To be fair, some of the staff were genuinely kind, trying and welcoming. Unfortunately, they appeared to have no authority to make decisions or improve the situation, which ultimately left the experience unchanged.
In summary: friendly people, but poor communication, weak service culture, and a mismatch between what is advertised and what is delivered. FYI!
