This was a pleasant cottage with parking in front. It was nicely decorated and beds were very comfortable.It was five minutes from a co-op food shop which opens seven days a week 7 am to 10 pm. Almost opposite the bus station and a two minute walk to the ferry.
Bike hire is available in Stromness. And we had a great day taking the ferry over to hoy, cycling to Rackwick Bay and walking to see the old man of hoy sea stack.
The cottage includes a small washing machine which we did use (only once…). The kitchen is adequately stocked are not like some holiday cottages which have cupboards full of stuff you will never use. I stayed with my daughter so there were only two of us, but clearly this could increase to 4 people. With four people, I think the kitchen might prove to be a little cramped at the dining table.

Lovely stay in Stromness at Harbor Cottage
We had a lovely stay at Harbor Cottage. On the harbor just off the ferry exit. Communication was great & we accessed the cottage easily. Everything was clean & comfy. Even had Sky TV which can be rare. Kitchen had most everything you could need. Only issue was the slats on both beds kept falling.

Accessibility is an issue
Harbor cottage is a cute place in an excellent location near the ferry terminal in Stromness. And with several restaurants nearby, and even a fishmarket within walking distance, you have a variety of meals to choose from the one downside we struggled with was accessibility. We were not able to take our luggage upstairs, because of the very narrow steep staircase. The furniture was placed in such a way. It was difficult to move throughout the downstairs. If you have any mobility problems, you might consider a different location.

Harbour cottage hideaway
Lovely welcome,cosy and easy accessed.Met the landlord
as we were early very helpful.Quiet location which was a surprise as the cottage is next to the ferry port.We could only stay for three nights,which was a shame,would be very happy to stay longer.We did not cook in the house this time,but seemed very equipped to handle any food prep ,lovely butcher and fresh fish available locally.

Harbor Cottage is great!
We stayed at Harbor Cottage for 3 nights and had a great stay. It was comfortable and in an awesome location right across from the ferry harbor. Two things that I appreciated in particular were the convenient lights for reading and the abundance of electric outlets, Needing outlets for hair dryer, curling iron, heating pad, and all the devices needing recharged was no problem here! The place was clean and cozy and the kitchen well-equipped for our needs. You can't go wrong staying at this cute, two-story cottage.
