a delightful stay

The 5-night stay was overall comfortable, although there was an issue with controlling the temperature of the hot water shower. It would occasionally become scalding during showers. It would also be wonderful if breakfast could include some fruit. Other than these minor points, it was a delightful stay. When we arrived in the late afternoon, the reception gentleman kindly helped my daughter and me carry our luggage to the room on the 2nd floor.

TV didn't have signal and room could do with an update. Couldn't find anyone for breakfast but none of that mattered. We had a clean comfy bed in an amazing piece of history. Its great value for a room smack bang in the centre. This was my 3rd time and im still amazed that this hotel has retained so much of its architectural history particularly in the courtyard and Tudor landings.

When I checked in, I was given a room that was already occupied by someone. I walked into this room, using the key I was given and interrupted a couple who were asleep in the room. Not a good start. I was then given an alternative room, after further confusion. The second room was musty and slightly dirty and unclean. I have now returned from the stay and I am covered in bed bug bites, owing to the room I stayed in, despite my best efforts to limit contact with the linen. I have over 50 bites on my body. Do not book this property, despite its alluring affordable price.

Det er et meget hyggeligt sted set udefra, men jeg var skuffet over værelset. Der var koldt, wifi virkede ikke og det lå for enden af en smal gang med udsigt udover baggården. Det lignede slet ikke det enkeltværelse, der er vist på billederne. Der var rent, men tapetet hang i laser nogle steder og dyne og puder var ikke godt. Personalet var venligt og det var en fin pub med udmærket mad.

The building is amazing, dating from the 15th century, it looks fantastic from the outside and the public areas are lovely and well maintained. Unfortunately I can't say the same for my bedroom, where the wallpaper was splitting away from the walls and ceiling in many places indicating damp issues, or at the very least that it hasn't been redecorated in a very long time. The TV didn't work (no signal) and the bed was painfully hard. Despite the delightful features, I wouldn't recommend this hotel sadly.

Lovely room, gorgeous old building, staff very friendly and helpful. We loved the historical documents framed around the rooms and building! The outside stairs were a little treacherous as it was raining but there were handrails.

Very comfortable room, I slept extremely well. I was overlooking the main road so I imagine it would be quite noisy on a weekend but was perfect on a weekday. Plenty space and very comfortable bed and bedding. Not particularly modern but wasn't expecting that in a building this old!

Very disappointing. The room couldn't have been much pokier, with a view of the backs of buildings and a tiny wardrobe at 45 degrees to the room because that was the only way it would fit. The outward historic charm is not continued upstairs where a myriad of confusing staircases lead into a rabbits warren of narrow, chaSupper was too salty to finish

Gezellige pub met prima kamer. Zoals je op de foto’s al ziet is het wat oubollig maar dat geeft juist wel een mooie karakteristieke sfeer. Goed en snel geholpen bij inchecken. Volgende keer ontbijt in deze toko overslaan. Een half uur wachten op een zwarte koffie en dan cappuccino krijgen. En na ruim een uur mijn ontbijt gekregen wat ook zeker niet overeenkwam met de bestelling. Omdat ik geen zin had om nog langer te wachten het verder maar laten gaan. Mevrouw deed heel druk maar er waren weinig andere gasten. Of geef desnoods even bij opnemen van de bestelling aan dat het wat langer kan duren.
