We had a fantastic stay loved the character of the building and it’s history, when we checked in our initial room was ready and we were given an alternative but upon entering we found the room to be smaller than we expected (I have 2 children with autism and ADHD) so I went back down to reception and explain trying to avoid incoming meltdown, the hotel staff couldn’t be more accommodating and provided us with a larger room right next door to the one previously given, crisis averted!! We had a fantastic stay highly recommended and will definitely be back and next time definitely longer

Dirty floors, carpets laced with dog hair, heaters didn’t work properly. Tv remotes didn’t work in either room. Curtains falling off, holes in walls, large gap in the roof that I had to close myself with an ironing board. No WiFi, mentioned to staff - they didn’t really care. Room cards failed on 4 separate occasions. The whole place is clearly falling apart - the room was awful and the staff working seemed unhappy and unwelcoming in general. Would not stay here again and would advise others to avoid - the room was not cheap and did not represent good value in any way. We literally had to stuff loo roll into one hole in the wall as there was an outside draft coming through!

Lots of negativity about this Hotel Our experience was Very good Check-in Swift hall Reception downstairs areas Magnificent Staircase Ladings upto 1st floor all new carpets Clean room was great clean superb shower room Staff we're Fantastic Really Helpful and friendly Yes parts of hotel bit Shabby/need updating which is a huge task giving Size of the building but work ongoing in smartining it up Only real moan the fantastic balcony overlooking the sea front (Smoking Area) could do with pressue washing sooner rather than later and add few more Bins Just booked for next year going to be interesting to see the changes and upgrades they doing

It’s a shame. Such a beautiful, classic building and the Britannia group skimping on the most basic things, and milking the nostalgic place for every penny they can get before moving on. Sea view room was worthless with the months of not years of grime and dirt on the windows. Carpets that may never have known true modern amenities such as vacuum cleaners… just so sad.

The hotel looked lovely, on arrival the gentleman was very welcoming, friendly and helpful, he upgraded our room. We were on the 5th floor with a beautiful sea view however the lights on the side of the hotel shined through the top and sides of the window so the room wasn't completely dark and we had difficulty sleeping. The bed was comfortable and the room was nice, the doorframe had a few broken bits on it but the room locked and it didnt bother us. A coffee pod machine was provided however we couldn't get it to work and the shower temperature control was very stiff, I couldn't turn it and had to yell for my husband to help when the shower went cold, he found it difficult to turn but managed to do it. The flush button was loose and the panel feel off the wall, my hubby managed to put it back on. The hotel it's self was beautiful and we would definitely stay again despite our bad night sleep and a few teething problems, if we had been staying longer then we would of spoken to reception but for one night it was okay.

Very very dirty, toilet seat was full of blood and faeces, carpet was filthy and full of rubbish, stopped before and that was the same but thought we'd give it one more chance, not again, it doesn't hurt to clean up and wash the toilet seat which by the way didn't even fit. Room 239 is just disgusting.
