I have traveled to Kauai and have stayed over the years to the Coral Reef. The staff are excellent and the gem of this hotel! The management of the property has been neglected. The elevator was broken, the laundry facility was unavailable, the room smoke detector was covered with a garbage bag, the VCR was missing the control. Once we were able to get another control to work with the vcr, the movie we were going to watch was not in the case. Whoever is managing this facility needs to do there job!

Beach view is unobstructed and fantastic. The staff is very friendly. The shower dripped continuously, the elevator stopped working during our stay, and the toilet handle needed some jiggling.

The hotel is decent but definitely needs some repairs. The location and pool are both great, and the bed was comfortable. The staff was very helpful. We were able to borrow some bikes for free to use around town which was nice. They also had some movies you could borrow which would have been nice if we had a remote to use the dvd player. We also couldn’t get the tv to work and the handle on the toilet was broken. The place seems to be held together with thumbtacks and tape but it is still a pleasant stay. If you keep the windows open beware of roosters crowing early in the morning, as they do all over the island.

The location and outlook (right in the beach) is great and the price was reasonable. The property and the room felt shabby. Our bathroom door had a hole in it that was just covered up with tape. The staff were a little surly and made me feel awkward asking for anything.

The location was great. The staff is very friendly and warm. The hotel offered beach towels, chairs, coolers, umbrellas, boogie boards, etc. All the rooms are ocean front and the view was lovely. Now for the bad.... The rooms are is disrepair. Very old and outdated, very dingy and dirty. Stains on the bedding, dust and grease over all of the furniture, towel bars falling off the walls, ant traps and rat traps everywhere. The mattresses were horribly uncomfortable, with dents and springs poking through. It was uncomfortable to touch anything in the room due to how dirty things were. The AC unit had black mold growing inside (the cover was broken so we had full view of the inner workings). We were not able to use it, and my son had respiratory symptoms every time we returned to the room and all night. Our room was right in the middle of four rooms who were all traveling together. So each night they would gather and roam back and forth between the rooms, loud and intoxicated and late into the wee hours of the morning. Then, the cherry on top - the fire alarm started malfunctioning and was beeping constantly from friday until we checked out monday. And the alarm was directly outside our door. It went all night long for 3 nights. we got no sleep. We were told there was nothing they could do about it. No offer was made to move us to a different room or discount our stay or compensate us in some way for this awful experience. We will not be returning here.

We stayed for two nights and would have loved to stay longer. The morning sunrises from the balcony were incredible. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was clean and spacious for us. Being close to many of KaPaa's shops and restaurants was great amenity.

The hotel is close enough to the ocean to listen to the waves from your room. The room is clean enough for me, not spotless. There isn't much to do in Kapa'a so rent a car unless you like very long bike rides. The staff was very friendly, even sharing their sweets with me but I didnt enjoy the bible lesson at the end.. Overall nice hotel

Great Staff. Clean room . comfortable bed. Plenty Parking. THE VIEW: AWESOME. Quiet location near many good restaurants. Walking path just outside room. They have a restaurant for breakfast. The pool is clean and relaxing. Nice balcony to enjoy those incredible sun sets and sun rises. Worth a return trip.

The room was in dire need of renovation and the aircon didn't work that well. It also smelt of weed when we first entered. My fiancee didn't enjoy being there over Christmas. That said, it was a great price and good position, right on the beach and a good base to travel to and from. Parking was easy and it has laundry facilities. The staff were super friendly and you could use their coral safe sunscreen if needed. I think the other rooms in the opposite side of the hotel were probably a lot nicer than ours. This was probably my fault as i booked the room in just my name a year earlier, if both our names had been on the reservation we may have had a better room. If I had been on my own I would have been fine, as I was only using it to sleep as I enjoyed Kauai.
