Had a great overnight stay. The smallest rooms ("Cozy Double") are still a good size, and with spa access from 7am - 9pm, great value. Friendly staff, clean room with lots of sun and a big bathroom with large walk-in shower, wonderful spa facilties, and very close to the town centre. Just a few snagging points to mention. * Car parking. I'm sure this has rocketed since we last visited in December. It costs £18 per day to park in the hotel car park - as a hotel guest! Sure, it might be more expensive in the town centre, but I am not a shopper - I am staying at the hotel. If you are coming by car, you'll need to factor in this significant and disproportionate cost. * Half of the channels on the TV didn't work. * Check-out time is 11am, and the key card will stop working at 11:01am. It costs £30/hour you stay over this. Fair enough perhaps, but bear it in mind if you lose track of time in the spa :) Great hotel. But don't forget to add £18/day to your costs!

Should be noted that spa access is restricted to one hour per day for residents. Priority is given to those who are having ‘experience days’ or the like. Funnily enough there was no option for this as hotel guests and we were not allowed use of robes or slippers. This wouldn’t be so much of issue if it weren’t incredibly slippy around the pool area for obvious reasons and that 95% of the spa users had been provided all this clobber. Makes you feel a bit uncomfortable sat around on wicker furniture in just your bathing gear and a towel that couldn’t mop up a shot glass. King sized room was a decent layout but partner had a severe reaction to the feathered bedding so be aware if you have allergies.

Me and my partner booked a two night stay for a special birthday, we decided to book what we thought to be a posh hotel and pay a little bit more unfortunately there was nothing posh about it just the prices. We arrived and the front of house staff all seemed lovely. We were given the keys to our room and on entering it was the most bleak depressing grey room I’d ever stayed in it was shabby nothing matched and it was in no state to be let out especially not at near enough £400 for 2 nights the window had a massive gap in it and was hanging out which we did complain about because it was a danger and I thought it was going to fall out it was noisy and cold with the wind blowing in the first night they had put filler in it by the second night. The tea tray had 2 teabags on it so one each you would expect a decent tea tray in the Hilton. Hardly any channels worked on the tv and to be honest the less time spent in that room the better. We had booked breakfast and evening meal the evening meal on the first night was absolutely rubbish I ordered a pasta dish it just looked like a plain bowl of pasta with 2 prawns chucked in then they added charges at end for a meal we had already paid for so felt pressured to pay it even though we didn’t even use the £35 allowance they also added onto a bottle of £4.50 water the woman at dinner was pushy and rude we didn’t return the second night. The only decent thing was the breakfast. But from our experience rooms and building need overhauling.

We were given an upgraded room which was lovely. The staff were great. Gym was good. I didn't realise that spa was only one hour of access a day but it was enough for us. Children can use the pool 7am to 9am and 4pm to 6pm so if you want a lane swim, best to avoid those times. Really lovely hotel.

I stay in hotels around six times a month, and I can honestly say this was one of the poorest experiences I’ve had in a long time. In the restaurant, every steak dish on the menu was unavailable, and the only real alternative offered was a burger. When the food arrived, I asked for condiments — they never appeared. The place was quiet, yet no one made eye contact or checked in, despite me being seated right beside the bar. I eventually ordered dessert, waited 15 minutes, and had to chase it up. Seconds after I asked, it suddenly appeared, clearly forgotten about. To top it off, a service charge was added automatically, which felt completely undeserved. The room wasn’t much better. I was woken just after 6am by the shower in the next room — unbelievably loud, far beyond anything I’ve ever heard in a hotel. At checkout, I was told I had an £18 parking charge. When I questioned it, I was told it had “nothing to do with them” because it was a third‑party company, despite the hotel collecting the payment. Not exactly taking ownership of the guest experience. Overall, the hotel trades on its name, not its standards. Very poor

An elegant room with a spacious en-suite, and a large comfortable bed. Fluffy towels provided with additional ones when using the spa. A modest spa with pool, jacuzzi sauna and steam room, but perfectly clean and welcome on a rainy afternoon. All the staff we encountered were helpful and pleasant with top marks going to the reception girls. A lovely stay- thank you

I'm always surprised to see this hotel get such low ratings. The public areas are really nice. The pool and spa area very good. And the rooks about as decent as you'd imagine on a property of this style and age without major refurbishment. Even the breakfast is decent. I can only imagine that people's expectations of. Hilton hotel called teg Majestic are really high, especially if you've paid over £300 for a night whilst a conference is on at the centre next door. Pay a third of that off peak and it's really good value for money.
