We love staying here and stay 2-3 times a year. Live in Wa state. The Reef is always great, good drinks and food. Reef staff always the nicest people. We do like the hotel. Dog friendly clean rooms. It’s the desk staff that I find too business like, in flexible and cold. Never plesant , never smiling and down right “ I don’t give a rip” attitudes. In the 5 years we have been staying this has been the case. Even on the phone.

Check in was easy, the room was perfect! We ate at the restaurant on site and it was so delicious. I wish we had time to check out the pool, we will be coming back for the pool! Check out was easy as well. Completely safe property!

The rooms are very outdated. The telephone did not work. There was no shampoo conditioner or soap in the shower containers. The air conditioner remote did not work and you could not adjust the air conditioner by The controls that were on it. My first review was a lot better it seems that it depends on what room you get. We will not be staying here ever again.

Great stay! Spent the week with my daughter, she really enjoyed the pool as did I. Would stay again. Room was clean, staff was really friendly. Does need some maintenance but was having to much fun to really pay attention. Can’t wait to visit again. Excellent location too! 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🤩🌴🌴🌴

Dirty, coffee pot was disgusting, big window in front did not have a lock, and then when they fix the lock, I opened it partially, and then could not close it again, there is no microwave in the room. The room was spacious, but really needed some work. The reef bar annd restaurant and Sanchos restaurant that was sort of attached to the pool were great. But the hotel really needs some tender, loving care.

The aesthetic was exactly what I was looking for. The pool area was laid out nicely; the pool and hot tub temperatures were perfect and the music was just the right style and volume. Perfect for getting that mid-century vibe while relaxing poolside. The staff was very friendly and helpful; house keeping was Johnny-on-the-spot, and the on-site restaurants, while not fancy were solid. Room decor was spot on, with perfect mid-century Tiki vibes. On the downside, our mattress was severely worn out, with a huge dip on my side resulting in lower back pain. The carpet was also visibly stained in some areas and could probably stand to be replaced. While not a super-fancy, boutique hotel, we still had a very good experience and would be happy to stay there again!

The exterior is well maintained and looks very cute. Great pool too. The rooms are terrible, pealing wallpaper, carpet looks like it’s original from 1950’s (so gross we kept shoes on the whole time). Mattresses are awful…probably 30 years old. Shower had been updated, but not done well. Staff at the Reef restaurant were unfriendly and seemed annoyed by patrons both nights we went. The pool was the only good thing. I would not stay at this hotel again nor would I eat at the Reef again.

The Tropics is a little gem off the beaten path of downtown. Although the property is dated it's clean and has great amenities (pool, restaurant, bar, gym). Very relaxing, friendly staff, and cute decor. Only complaint is that there was no microwave in the room. HIghly recommended.

Great pool. We were with a child. He delighted in the large hearted pool. Sitting by the pool was great too with gorgeous views. Rooms were clean and comfortable. This hotel was a great buy especially silly for this time of year in Palm Springs. The outside look is charming. Location is convenient and central. There's a great bar where we met friends as well. I highly recommend

Edna at check-in on Saturday was very rude. I let her know that I had read some poor reviews and wanted to check out the room and then if I wasn’t happy with it for them to switch us to a different room. I asked if she knew if there had been any maintenance done or improvements to the rooms in the last months or so. She explained we had the last room of our type, which is fine. But then she went on to say that I should ignore other people‘s opinions and make my own evaluation. Seriously when you go to yelp and 40% of your ratings are a 1 with a huge number of negative complaints from unsafe door locks to stains in comforter and drapes to bugs to rude staff, and that is her response. Her response should have been that they in fact, have replaced the locks throughout the property with swipe locks. They have replaced comforters and drapes. They have worked to improve cleanliness. She was a rude little 20 year-old. In terms of the room, those improvements have been made, which is great. The staff should tell people about it when they have questions. The Jacuzzi is great. The pool is very nice. It looks like they have replaced about 25% of the beach chairs, but the rest are still very old. In the gym, there are no dumbbells under 50 pounds. There is electrical tape wrapped around handles on chest press. There was a good variety of barbells. There was a water fountain and ice machine. The treadmill was cheap home one. Overall, it worked ok but I would never come back

Friendly staff, let us check in earlier which was a bonus. Room was nice and ours was located close to the pool and ground floor. Bonus having a heated pool and happy hour in Tiki bar.
