It was an odd place. When I arrived the door was locked and it took a while for anyone to answer the door. When I checked out I could not find any staff. I looked around and waited as long as I could, but ended up leaving the keys with a note. Large, clean room with a smoky odor.

The location is #1 at this property. You are less than a 5 minute walk to the beach and a block from the main street. There is a lot to do in this area, and in my opinion this is one of the best areas on the island to be. The staff is very polite and helpful, but they are not always there - which isn't a problem, but should be noted in case you expect that. The price was reasonable compared to the other nearby locations, but it did come with some minor sacrifces. The water pressure was very weak, making showering and flushing toilets difficult. The bed was super firm, although I still got a decent nights sleep and the pillows are very small squares, like what you'd put on a sofa. This is not to complain, only to inform. The sheets are a bit scratchy and overall, you aren't getting anything more than what you're paying for, and the price difference between this and other nearby locations probably justifies these minor issues. One major benifit was the internet. If you work remotely, it appears they have fiber in the building because I consistently had no issues and could pull about 500mbps in each direction. This is amazing for hotel WiFi and well made up for the bedding and water. Again, staff was amazing and the location couldn't be beat for the price. All-in-all, I was happy with my stay.

The check in was too slow — two ladies dealing with me and another guest should have gone smoothly. The check out was even worse — the staff member that told me her name is Crystal acted as if she was paying for my stay (no professional mannerism, no smile, no kindness, no politeness, etc.). I told her I was very sorry for whatever is happening to her and for being in the wrong place. I saw a few Water Bugs during my stay. There’s a mini-fridge and a microwave, but no table, and no single spoon, fork, knife, plate or cup. They give you two large towels and one smallest one. You have to ask them to change the towels. The sheets weren’t changed during my 7-night stay, they were just tightened once. One day, another lady just entered my room without knocking. She assumed I wasn’t there and I was butt naked. She said she only wanted to check if I have enough toiletries. Speaking of, I had to buy my own soap, which I don’t mind, but definitely shouldn’t have relied on their lowest quality soap and shampoo. There’s no balcony. Overall, I knew it was a low budget place, but the place that is much better than this and is within the same budget and location range is Meridian Inn. So if you wanna stay in the Gap near the beach, go to Meridian Inn instead (I’ve been there twice; they weren’t available for my whole stay this time).

Our Barbados Experience

Harlem B & B provides a clean comfortable basic room in St. Lawrence Gap, Barbados. It is within easy walking distance of restaurants and the beach. The staff are friendly. We found our room a little noisy as it was close to reception. The doorbell could be heard playing its tune. Breakfast was extra and basic.
